Proposal by the EU Commission on a Regulation on veterinary medicinal product

The EU Commission has proposed a new ‘Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on Veterinary Medicinal Product. 

Regulation (EU) 2019/6 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 December 2018 on veterinary medicinal products and repealing Directive 2001/82/EC (OJ L 4, 7.1.2019, p. 43–167) has been published  Monday, 7. January 2019.   Date of entry in force is 28/01/2019 and it will be implemented on 28/01/2022. 

The purpose of this revision will be to increase the availability of veterinary medicinal products, to reduce the administrative burden on enterprises, to improve the functioning of the internal market for veterinary medicinal products and to assess the possibilities to have an improved response to antimicrobial resistance related to the use of veterinary medicines.
