Governance of Agricultural Bioresources Agency
The Governance of Agricultural Bioresources Agency was established in 2017, through Subsidiary Legislation 595.22 Governance of Agricultural Bioresources Agency (Establishment) Order. Currently, the main role of the Agency is to promote standards of good practice for agricultural waste management and to ensure that sustainable solutions to manage agricultural bioresources, such as manure and slurry generated on farms, are implemented and monitored. The Agency’s aim is to promote governance, management and utilization practices that are technically and economically feasible and environmentally sound. This entails establishing a strong relationship with farmers and livestock breeders, by advising on agricultural standards of good practice, and supporting the implementation of required innovative technological equipment to process and treat manure/slurry. The overall mission of the Agency is to sustainably manage agricultural bioresources in a manner that supports the Maltese agricultural sector.
